FCI/VDH
My name is Manuela Köhler, I was born in Heidelberg, Germany.
I live with my husband Reinhard (a lawyer) and with my three Rhodesian Ridgeback ladies "Elsa"&"Wilma" from right to left, in "good old Germany". In Kronau, near Bruchsal
I lived in Giessen about10 years, where I studied veterinary medicine. I passed my last exam in 1994.
In 1997 we have got our first RR (Elsa). She was 16 weeks old. One year later Reinhard & I moved from Giessen to Heidelberg, because he started a new job.
In 1999 we got Wilma. She came from South Africa at the age of 8 weeks. First the dog arrived, several months later the papers arrived. So we were forced to find a name for her, before we knew, her original, very beautiful name: "Lionhill Azisa".
We called her Wilma, like the woman in the "Flintstones". Sometimes it sounds really funny, when I cry: Wiiiilmaaaa:))
My hobbies are dogs, dogs, dogs....sports...and computers, my favourite dogs are: Rhodesian Ridgebacks:). And now we have got a third bitch puppy at the age of nearly 6 months. Her name is Pakita and she came from a reputed kennel in Australia. Chilolo kennel, breeder: Rosemary Green. Rosemary is a very honest and lovely person. I had contact with her since one year before we decided to take a puppy from her.
Well, I love everything, which has to do with dogs. Nature, moving in nature, walking, aerobics, horse-riding and so on. I am happy to be with my husband Reinhard, who is a lawyer, and my dogs. They make me really happy:).
Do you want to know anything about RR?
They are sensitive, always hungry, intelligent, reserved, stubbornly (thickheaded), lovely with children, calm at home, running and wild outside, with a big hunting instinct, lovely character, There is no other dog like Rhodesian Ridgebacks. I am in love with them. They have their own character. Probably other dog breed lovers would say the same about their dogs:).
I started breeding from my bitch Wilma in spring 2003, because she is a healthy, excellent bitch with a really lovely temperament. I do this with the same commitment and love which I devote in their training in hunting & obedience. My breeding aims are: dogs with a real good and lovely temperament. Their health is very important for me. So it was necessary for me, to do an out cross, and not line breeding, to avoid inbreeding depression..
We live together like a family in the house & garden. I go on long walks or cycling with them every day. I am proud to tell you that they are really very obedient and don't hunt other animals. They have a big hunting instinct, but they know, that they have to be obedient and that there is always a pack leader.
t's a pity that we cannot breed from Elsa, although she is a special dog, excellent in temperament and body, she has real championquality. Unfortunately she does not have the condition for the breed according to the VDH/FCI statutes.

We live with our dogs as family members. Our puppies were born in the house. In the first 4 weeks they lived the whole day and night in the house with us. We slept in the same room the first two weeks. The first reason was: Wilma was feeling so lonely:), the second reason was, we wanted to watch the puppies. The next 4-5 weeks they were outside in the yard and in the garden. In the evening they slept inside. We socialized them by a noise CD, with all the noise like, airport, bells, shooting, children crying and so on. We are living near a big road. The firebrigade is our next neighbour. So you can imagine, that our puppies were used on vans, bells, the noise of a firebrigade car and so on. We were getting a lot of visits from children with their parents after 4 weeks. Sometimes we really had a big party here. With brunch and so on. So our puppies were also socialized on children and on many people. After 6 weeks, we made little walks, got the puppies a bit used to a collar and a lead. We made little car tours with them. That they would tolerate the car driving without getting seasick or crying:). We see ourselves not only as persons selling a puppy to somebody. We hope that we have allways an advice and help, if something happens or don't:).
